On Earth as it is in Heaven

My oil painting ‘On Earth as it is in heaven’ was completed in the gallery on Holy Island. I included ‘The Plough’ in this. It was such a surprise to me when my brother, Jim, pointed out that The Plough is the same map shape as Holy Island itself. (Take a look at a map)

 I hadn’t realised this at all. Together, we had given Holy Island heavenly status. So next time you look up at the night sky you will see ‘Holy Island’

This painting took me about three weeks to name. One day I went to morning prayer at St Cuthberts on the Island and was praying the ‘Our Father’. As I said the line ‘On earth as it is in heaven’ I knew in my heart that this would be the title.
